Goodnight

Goodnight

I sleep with a dead man,

It sounds crazy but it’s true.

Every night, curled up tight, with only memories of you.

I sleep with a dead man,

Locked up inside my mind.

I hear your laugh, I see your face,

Our souls intertwined.

I sleep with a dead man,

Against the fear and pain.

Tear streaked pillows comfort me,

Until the dawn comes again.

I sleep with a dead man,

Where once there was only you.

Now there is only me to hold,

And broken possibilities askew.

For you are my dead man,

The soul I feel at night.

My splintered light in the dark,

The whisper of “Goodnight”.
