All You Knew Was Love
You often hear tales of woe,
from survivors who only know,
their last words were cruel and cold,…
and the last thing they knew was fear uncontrolled.
That was not so the day you left,
our last words were of love and not regret,
talking of the future as though it were set,
knowing warmth, kindness, and adoration as our eyes met.
Death is unavoidable, as yours was too,
what brings me solace is in those moments few,
the last thing in this life that you knew,
Was love.
